A beacon of hope for child mothers

Crossworld Foundation rehabilitates child mothers who drop out of school due early pregnancy. Some girls run away from dysfunctional families and have no one to take care of them and the young children as they go back to school.

In the heart of a bustling community, where dreams often face the harsh reality of life, Crossworld Foundation stands as a sanctuary for young girls yearning for a second chance. These are the stories of resilience, transformation, and hope, woven together by an organization committed to rewriting the narrative of young motherhood.

Crossworld Foundation is a registered NGO in Kenya, currently operating across eight counties. Founded by a compassionate couple, Mr. Ernest and Madam Joyce Kinyua, and supported by a dedicated team of directors, well-wishers, and volunteers, Crossworld Foundation has become a lifeline for many in need.

A Safe Haven for the Vulnerable child mothers

For many girls, the journey to Crossworld Foundation begins in despair. Teenage pregnancy, often accompanied by societal judgment and abandonment, forces them out of school and away from their aspirations. Others flee from homes rife with dysfunction and neglect, carrying not only their dreams but also the burden of young children with no one to turn to. Crossworld Foundation opens its doors to these young mothers, providing a safe space where they can begin to heal and rebuild their lives.

Rehabilitation and Education

At the core of Crossworld’s mission is education. The foundation believes that empowering young mothers through learning is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and dependence. Through partnerships with local schools and vocational training centers, the girls are given an opportunity to continue their education. For those unable to return to formal schooling, Crossworld offers tailored skill-building programs, enabling them to secure a livelihood and provide for their children.

One such program is the vocational tailoring course. Here, young mothers like Mary, who had to leave school after giving birth at 16, learn valuable skills. Mary now runs her own tailoring shop, which not only supports her family but also employs other young mothers from similar backgrounds. Another initiative is the IT literacy program, which has seen participants like Ruth secure entry-level positions in local tech companies after gaining proficiency in basic computer skills.

Holistic Support for Mothers and Children

Crossworld recognizes that the journey back to school is not easy for young mothers, particularly those with infants or toddlers. To address this, the foundation provides childcare services, ensuring that the children are cared for in a nurturing environment while their mothers attend classes or training. Additionally, counseling sessions and mentorship programs help the girls build emotional resilience and confidence, equipping them to face future challenges.

For instance, Jane, a 17-year-old mother, initially struggled with anxiety and self-doubt. Through consistent counseling and mentorship at Crossworld, she found her voice and rediscovered her ambition. Today, she’s pursuing a diploma in nursing, inspired by the care and kindness she received.

Stories of Triumph

Among the many success stories is that of Ann, who became pregnant at 15 and was forced to drop out of school. Shunned by her family, she found herself alone and desperate. Crossworld not only provided her with shelter and support but also helped her complete her education. Today, Ann is a teacher and a proud advocate for young mothers, inspiring others with her journey.

Another is Grace, who fled an abusive home with her infant son. At Crossworld, she learned tailoring and design, turning her passion into a thriving business. “This place saved my life,” Grace shares, tears glistening in her eyes. “They believed in me when no one else did.”

Similarly, Sarah’s life took a positive turn after joining Crossworld. She learned soap-making, an unexpected yet lucrative skill that allowed her to establish a small-scale production unit. Sarah’s business now supplies local stores, and she dreams of expanding her brand regionally.

Karimi’s journey is yet another shining example. She joined Crossworld’s candle-making training program and quickly excelled. With assistance from the foundation, Karimi received the necessary equipment to start her own business. Today, she runs a cottage industry manufacturing and selling candles. Her products have become popular in local markets, and she plans to expand her business further. “Crossworld gave me the tools to succeed,” Karimi says proudly, “and now I can provide for my child and inspire others to do the same.”

Wanja’s story is equally inspiring. Thrown out of her parent’s home after getting pregnant while still in secondary school, Wanja found refuge at Crossworld. The foundation supported her through childbirth and trained her in rabbit farming. With their assistance, she started her own venture and now runs a thriving cottage industry, selling bunnies, fur, and even rabbit urine for organic farming. Wanja proudly says, “Crossworld gave me a chance to rebuild my life and support my child. I now see a future full of opportunities.”

A Call to Action

Crossworld Foundation’s work is powered by the generosity of donors and the dedication of volunteers. However, the need is immense, and resources are often stretched thin. The foundation is currently soliciting material and financial help to upscale its assistance to more needy teenage or child mothers and expand its geographical coverage. Whether through monetary contributions, volunteering, or simply spreading awareness, every effort counts.

A Future of Hope

Through its unwavering commitment, Crossworld Foundation is not only transforming lives but also challenging societal norms and prejudices. Each young mother who walks through its doors is a testament to the power of compassion and the boundless potential of human resilience.

In the words of Crossworld’s founder, “Every girl deserves a second chance, and every child deserves a mother who can dream again.”
